Have you seen this gem of a video from the talent show, Britain’s Got Talent? For those who don’t know the show, it’s the British counter-part to America’s Got Talent. It’s a show with a variety of contestants who come on stage in front of a live audience as well as a nationwide broadcast audience and show the three judges their talent. It’s not just a show for singers, but a show for comedians, dancers, magicians, etc.
Anyway, there was this very unique contestant named Susan Boyle. She’s a 47-year-old Scottish woman who aspires to be a professional singer. I’ll let the video speak for itself.
In about four days this YouTube clip has been viewed over 15 million times. It was just truly remarkable. I admit I was getting a little teary-eyed as I watched her sing the powerful ballad from Les Miserables, “I Dreamed a Dream.” Having seen Les Miserables a couple of times I have been moved by this particular song before, but there was just something about Susan Boyle’s performance that was superior. The fact that the audience and judges laughed at her in the beginning and how she turned all of that around because of her voice was fascinating.
