Box Office Predictions (July 31 – August 2)

Two weeks in a row we have 3 new movies that are in 3 different categories. We have Funny People which is a comedy, we have Aliens in the Attic which is a Kids movie, and finally we have The Collector which is a Horror movie.

Funny People: A comedy Starring Adam Sandler, Seth Rogan, Jonah Hill, and Jason Schwartzman looks to be a promising film that is sure to make you laugh and even possibly cry. Its a story about a comedian who is dying but takes a turn for the better and now he wants to capture his life back. – i am really looking forward to this film.

Aliens in the Attic: A kids comedy about a group of kids having to protect their summer home from aliens. This looks to be an enjoyable family movie. – I probably wont ever see this movie, but I have no doubt about the entertainment value for kids being very high.

The Collector:  A horror Film about a desperate man trying to  repay his debt to his ex-wife, plots a heist at his new employer’s country home, unaware that a second criminal has also targeted the property, and rigged it with a series of deadly traps. – This movie is either going to be a hit or miss, i think people should give it a shot because it looks entertaining.

2. Aliens in the Attic – $20 million
3. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince – $18 million
4. G-Force – $15 million
5. The Ugly Truth – $11 million

Rob

1.  Funny People – $28 million
2.  G-Force – $20 million
3.  Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince – $19 million
4.  The Ugly Truth – $18 million
5.  Aliens in the Attic – $15 million

Sheehan

1. Funny People – $40 million

2. G-Force – $22 million

3. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince – $ 20 million

4. Aliens in the Attic - $18 million

5.  The Collector – $15 million

So as you can see we all have similar top 5’s but I am the only one to predict The Collector in the Top 5. We all think Funny People will be the number one movie this weekend, and hopefully we will all be correct in that, but there is always a chance that just like last week a kids movie will come rolling in and take the top spot.
