Weekend Box Office Results

September 22, 2008

Results for September 19-21
1.  Lakeview Terrace – $15 million
2.  Burn After Reading – $11 million
3.  My Best Friend’s Girl – $8.3 million
4.  Igor – $7.8 million
5.  Righteous Kill – $7.4 million

As predicted by Dan and I, Lakeview Terrace topped the box office with $15 million.  Burn After Reading had another solid weekend, bringing in $11 million that was good enough for the #2 spot.  The Kate Hudson and Dane Cook romantic comedy had a weak opening, disappointing the box office with $8.3 million, but still good enough for the #3 spot.  The mad scientist animation, Igor, stole the #4 spot with $7.8 million, and Righteous Kill rounded out the Top 5 with $7.4 million.

I hate to be crass, but Phil was way off with his predictions.  He was able to predict 3 of the Top 5, but his Ghost Town prediction was far off.  The only minor good call was including Igor into his Top 5 while Dan and I didn’t.

Dan predicted the Top 3 correctly, 4 out of the Top 5, and came the closest in guessing the weekend’s gross.  He is the clear winner of the weekend.

See you Friday for our new predictions.
